Jayate: A New Beginning
Satyamev Jayate (which in English means
Truth Alone Prevails) is an Indian TV talk show that airs on channels under
Star Network like Star Plus and Doordarshan. The show premiered on May 6, 2012
and marked the television debut of Indian Bollywood actor and filmmaker Aamir
Khan.
Upon its premiere, the show received
positive reviews from both the critics and the public. Film celebrities and
politicians also praised the show for bringing out social issues in front of
public. The first episode of the first season was based on female foeticide in
India and the show urged the Government of Rajasthan to take action against the
people who were shown in the programme through sting operation video and also
to take actions to stop illegal practice of female foeticide. Child sexual
abuse in India was the theme of its second episode in the season. The children
were taught that was is a good and a bad touch. They were told that if someone
touches them at their private parts then it’s wrong and they should immediately
talk to their parents.
The impact and effects of "Dowry System
in India" was the theme of its third episode in the season. People came
and told their stories. The most amazing part was when a girl with her brother
made a video of the family who demanded dowry from them. Medical malpractice
which is prevalent in the current India was the theme of its Fourth episode. In
Rajasthan, medicines are available at 1/10th rates. The actual costs of
medicines are very low but people sell it at high rates to earn profits. But
now doctors have filed a case against Aamir khan. They say all doctors aren’t
corrupt and he should apologise to them. But he has refused to do so. Let’s see
what happens next.
